The Hawk Fire is affecting a lot of people in our community, including some of our own people at Reno Type.
Several of our employees have been affected by evacuations, and some live very close to the fire. As far as we know, everyone is safe and everyone’s homes are okay. We are very grateful for that. But some of our people are going to be displaced for a while, and they need time to take care of their homes, their families and their pets.
We’re going to give them that time.
Fortunately, August is not our busiest season, and we don’t anticipate any significant disruption to our customers. Reno Type is open, we’re producing work, and we’re making deliveries.
But we may also be working a little short-handed for a while. If a delivery arrives an hour later than expected, or it takes us a little longer than usual to get something done, we’d appreciate a little grace. We will continue to do everything we reasonably can to meet our commitments, while recognizing that right now some things are more important than printing.
Mostly, we’re thinking about the people throughout our community who have been evacuated, the people waiting to learn whether their homes are safe, and the firefighters and other first responders working in extremely difficult conditions.
Right now, the most obvious thing we can do is take care of our own people and encourage everyone else to take care of theirs.
But Reno Type also has people, trucks, warehouse space, printing and mailing capabilities, and other resources. We don’t yet know whether any of those can be particularly useful to the larger community as this unfolds. If you’re involved in the response to the Hawk Fire and can think of a reasonable way Reno Type can help, please reach out.
We’ll do what we can.
And in the meantime, please take care of yourselves, your families, your employees, your neighbors and your animals. We’ll worry about the printing.
