Michelle Edwards is a production artist and graphic designer at Reno Type and has worked here for nearly a decade. In her own words, “If someone presents me with a problem, I’ll figure out how to do it.” For Michelle, every project is new and different, presenting opportunity for problem solving, creativity, and a little research to create a product that is esthetic and appealing. She began her creative journey by studying interior design at UNR, working as a student on graphic design and website maintenance, as a web master for the Basque Studies Program, and then focusing study on graphic design at Western Nevada College. What drives Michelle’s design work is her sensibility towards how to make something beautiful. Maybe she first stepped onto this creative path in 5th grade when she joined Exploratory Strings and fell in love with the cello because its music was “deep, emotional and so pretty.” For most of her life she’s continued to play in musical programs such as UNR Symphony, Pops Orchestra, and the Reno Youth Philharmonic.
What makes Michelle the Reno Type?
Michelle’s family has lived in Reno for five generations. Simply put, “Reno has always been home. What’s alluring to me is that Reno is beautiful and unique. We can go for a drive and travel a couple hundred miles to be in reach of so many amazing places. I love finding the hole-in-the-wall, too.”
