What started as a temporary college job while pursuing a business degree became a full-time vocation AND an avocation. Starting as a delivery guy and bindery grunt at A. Carlisle, he became head of shipping, then assistant to the production manager, and then an estimator, which is where he really learned about the craft and business of printing. From there, he became production manager, a title he held for 7 years before making the jump to sales. Around here, we say, “Rob has forgotten more about printing than most of us will ever know. When he’s not being a smart-ass, he’s busy as a fan of all things round and bouncy. As a lover of animals, he’s right at home at Reno Type, where there is always a dog or three.
What makes Rob the Reno type?
“If you got here in diapers and are still here 61 years later, you’re probably the Reno type,” Rob says. “I would have been here sooner, but it took me the first year of my life to convince my parents to move out of California.” If we’re honest, Rob is probably more of the “Sparks type,” as that’s where he’s made his home for all but a couple of those 61 years. We’re ok with that.
