Goodbye Frances

  • Jan 10, 2025

Today was difficult. Our teammate -- Reno Type’s fulfillment director Frances -- passed away on Christmas day after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Today, our staff attended a celebration of life. Back at the office after, it’s a little quiet.

Frances was introduced to us by Mike McElvoy, a long-time vendor and friend who heard we were looking for someone with a eye for detail willing to work unusual and sometimes long hours. Frances had retired after a nearly 40 year run ion the Newspaper industry where she, among other duties, managed the distribution of the Reno Gazette Journal. We were blessed to find someone with that skill set. And more than blessed by her keen eye, sense of humor, attention to detail and ability to dig in and solve a problem.

Until the end, she never found a problem she couldn’t solve, and just three days before her passing was making plans to be back in the office, at her desk, helping us and serving clients by the first week of January. It was not to be. She finally found one problem she couldn’t beat, though she tried.

We recently learned that our friend Mike, who introduced us to her, passed suddenly just a few weeks earlier. It is some small comfort to know that Mike and Frances, fast friends in life, will get to hang out and joke together. Do they have Jolly Ranchers in heaven? If they didn’t before… they do now.

Frances – you left a hole in our hearts and operation that even a 15lb bag of Jolly Ranchers can’t fill. We were blessed to share the last several years with you, and will miss you dearly.
